Brief overview on how to create Service Types
Steps
Open Service Types
Navigate: Company Settings → Service Types.
Create new service type
Click Add New (or Create Service Type).
Name it
Enter a clear name (e.g.,
Move In / Move Out — Set Rate).Recommended naming:
ServiceName — [Flat|Hourly|Manual]to avoid confusion.
Choose Frequency
Pick the recurrence: One-time, Weekly, Biweekly, etc.
Example: Move-in/out → One-time. Regular clean → Weekly or Biweekly.
Select Pricing Mode
Flat rate — same price based on square footage or a set amount each time.
Hourly — charges by hours worked.
Manual Flat Rate / Manual Hourly — price entered manually per booking.
Choose the mode that matches how you bill this service.
Enter pricing / base fields
If the form asks for a base or default value and you rely on other formulas or user rates, you can enter
0so it pulls the cleaner’s default rate (configured in the user profile) or formula later. If this service has a fixed price (set rate), enter it here.
Cleaner pay / payroll settings
If a specific cleaner-pay field appears and you want each cleaner to use their profile rate, leave it at
0.If this service has a unique cleaner rate (e.g., paid hourly for move-outs), enter that specific rate.
Optional toggles — set behavior
No payroll — use when this job shouldn’t generate payroll (e.g., unpaid re-clean or QC by salaried staff).
Non-taxable — marks the service as tax-exempt (rare; e.g., charity/free clean).
Disable auto-charge — if you never want the system to auto-charge a client for this service type, enable this.
Write a brief description
Short explanation for cleaners and dispatchers (e.g., “Make-ready cleaning; includes oven & fridge”).
Finalize & Save
Click Save (or Finalize) so it becomes a completed template. Aim for the service type to appear as a finished template in the list.
Create variations (if needed)
If you need a similar service with different billing (e.g., Move In/Out — Hourly vs Move In/Out — Flat), create separate service types for each.
Test it
Create a sample booking using the new service type and confirm:
The work order loads with the expected description and fields.
Pricing is correct.
Cleaner pay, tax behavior, and auto-charge behave as intended.
It appears correctly in the cleaner’s app.
